Half a decade has passed since Omar Bravo engraved his name in Club Deportivo Guadalajara's history by breaking the scoring record of Legend 'Chava' Reyes. Bravo's brace against Morelia during matchday 4 of the 2015 Apertura Tournament, contributing to a 2-0 victory for Chivas at Estadio Akron, boosted him to 123 goals wearing the Rojiblanco jersey.

Straight out of movie script, a perfect night, it was a crucial game to fight off relegation vs. the Liga MX's leaders, which had not conceded a goal in the 3 previous games. Who better than Omar Bravo, El Chiverio's captain, to command the team into victory with his fierce determination & courage.

Three minutes were enough for Omar Bravo to put the odds in favor for el Rebaño Sagrado. In the 26th minute David‘ Avion ’Ramirez crossed it in where the Sinaloan striker laced it home with a right-footed shot and gave Guadalajara a 1-0 advantage, the goal which tied Bravo with 'Chava' Reyes at 122 goals.

The night's climax arrived in the 29th minute, a goal which finally broke the 48-year-old record. Carlos Fierro performed a great run on the right followed by a cross that found Omar open to cash it home off his eight boot to become the Rojiblanco's top league scorer with 123 goals and put the game to rest with a 2-0 score.

In the 76th minute, ’Chepo’ de la Torre allowed ChivaHermanos to cheer for the idol by substituting him. At the end of the game, the board of directors headed by Nestor de la Torre recognized Omar Bravo’s magnificent achievement by awarding him the game ball with which he scored his 123rd goal and a piece of the net where he etched his name in gilded letters in Club Deportivo Guadalajara's history. Finally, Omar expressed his gratitude to all fans at Estadio Akron, his family, and all the people who had accompanied him during his successful career up to that historic moment.
