Chivas and Puebla split points on the opening night of Guard1anes 2021

08/01/2021 21:30 / Omar González

The home team started the game with high pressure on the attacking half thus Chivas took a bit longer to settle on the pitch, but as time elapsed el Rebaño was able to find their footing.

In minute 6 Gudiño caught the ball, without any problems, following a long-distance shot. In the 12th minute, Chivas almost went in front as Antuna crossed the ball precisely into Oribe Peralta who performed a flashy bicycle kick that was deflected by the GK.

Then in minute 21, the referee awarded a PK for Guadalajara following a great run down by Uriel Antuna who was tripped inside the box; unfortunately, Jesús Molina was not able to cash from the PK spot as his shot went wide.

A few minutes later in the 37th minute, Ormeño gave Puebla the lead with a header past Gudiño.

The second half began and it did not take long for Chivas to level terms as in minute 46 Miguel Ponce got the equalizer for Guadalajara thanks to a left-footed shot from outside the box. Ponce’s goal was a confidence boost for El Rebaño as they went all in trying to get a second goal.

First in minute 65 ‘Chicote’ crossed the ball to ‘Chino’ Huerta whose trick shot was close to finding the back of the net. Then in the 77th minute, César Huerta proved to be a dangerous weapon for Chivas as he unleashed a nice shot following a gorgeous bicycle kick a bit wide, unfortunately.

By the dawn of the game, Chivas continued to push hard for the lead as Fernando Beltrán delivered a precise ball to ‘Chicote’ whose header, sadly, ended up in the hands of the GK.

Next Saturday 16th, Chivas will make their home debut in Guard1anes 2021 vs. Toluca at 5:00 pm at Estadio Akron.
