Chivas will return to La Piedad, Michoacán, after a 13-year absence to play an exhibition match against Tapatío, a match that has caused great expectation among the ChivaHermanos of that region, who are anxious to see their Rebaño up close.
The Juan N. López Stadium is ready to welcome the most popular and beloved team in our country for the third time, and below we tell you some curiosities about the Tapatío team in this location.
1. The only time Chivas visited this stadium in the history of short tournaments was in Summer 2002, when they drew 1-1 with Reboceros on the first matchday.
2. Curiously, Ramón Morales, who is one of the Rebaño's top idols, was born in La Piedad and participated as a starter in that 2002 match.
3. There is a more recent history of the Rebaño in this locality, as in 2010 they played a friendly match at the Juan N. López stadium against the home team.
4. Chapo' Sánchez is the only player from the current Chivas squad who played minutes in that 2010 match, as he came on as a substitute.
5. This Thursday's exhibition match between Chivas and Tapatío will serve to pay a well-deserved tribute to the 'Eternal Captain', Ramón Morales, who will be the guest of honor in this match as he is such a significant character for Guadalajara and for La Piedad.
