Both Chivas and Cruz Azul are referents in Mexican soccer due to their vast history, which has been written by many players who continue to live on in the memory of the fans precisely because of their contribution. About this Saturday's match, corresponding to the 10th matchday of the Clausura 2024, we present a list of 10 players that you probably didn't remember that had defended both the red and white and the light blue jerseys.

José de Jesús Corona

The goalkeeper made a name for himself in La Máquina's goal, but he also had an important stint defending Guadalajara's goal. He was Chiverío's reinforcement for the 2005 Libertadores Cup, in which he had a very outstanding participation in the Quarter-Final series against Boca Juniors.

Francisco Javier Rodríguez

El 'Maza' came from the Rojiblanca youth academy and contributed from the back line to help the Rebaño Sagrado win its eleventh league title in the 2006 Apertura. He emigrated to Europe in 2008 and it was six years later that he donned the Cementera jersey.

Jared Borgetti

After a short stint abroad, the player from Sinaloa defended the Cruz Azul jersey in the Clausura and Apertura 2007. After another year with Rayados, Borgetti signed with Chivas for the 2009 Clausura, remaining only for that semester.

Aarón Galindo

A graduate of the capital team's youth academy, Galindo wore the Cruz Azul jersey from 2001 to 2005 before making the leap to Verde Valle. The defender signed with Chivas for the 2009 Clausura and remained until the 2010 Bicentennial, with 50 games played.

Gonzalo Pineda

One of the most important signings during Jorge Vergara's (r.i.p.) tenure, he joined the Red and White team in the 2006 Clausura and just one semester later became Champion with Chivas, beating Toluca. 'Gonzo' stayed for a total of 4 years with Chivas and later signed with La Máquina for the Apertura 2010.

Salvador Carmona

After making a name for himself with the Diablos Rojos, the winger joined the Rebaño Sagrado in the 2004 Clausura. The following year he moved to Cruz Azul, where he remained until mid-2007.

Benjamín Galindo

The 'Maestro' can be considered one of the main protagonists of this rivalry, as, in addition to wearing both jerseys and being champion with both teams, he also coached both Red and White and the Navy Blue from the bench.

Galindo is a Guadalajara legend for his quality and elegance on the field, which helped Chivas defeat La Máquina in the final of the 1986-1987 season. Ten years later, the 'Maestro' was also crowned with Cruz Azul against León in Winter 97.

Miguel Sabah

Another player who emerged from the Cantera Rojiblanca. The native of Cancun made his debut as a Red and White player in the 2001 Winter League and remained until the end of 2005 before making the leap to the Cementero team for the 2006 Clausura. He played 6 tournaments with Cruz Azul before moving on. Sabah had a second spell with the Rebaño in 2013.

Upon his return, he spent his second spell with Chivas between 2009 and 2010, before signing a one-year contract with La Máquina in 2012.
