The keys to Chivas' win against Rayados

31/03/2024 10:03 / Enrique Noriega

Last night was a brilliant performance by Guadalajara, who, in addition to earning the three points that bring them closer to the direct qualification zone, managed to take away Rayados' undefeated record after beating them 0-2, in a match corresponding to Matchday 13 of the Clausura 2024.

This victory had extremely valuable key points, which is why we will now take a closer look at the Rebaño's performance against the Monterrey giants.

General analysis

Chivas showed a good defensive performance, as they were aware of the offensive quality of Rayados' players, and set up a midfield block to protect the loss of the ball. Furthermore, when Fernando Gago's team managed to take the lead, they showed the necessary maturity to counteract the attacks into space attempted by the home side.

When Monterrey was down to nine men, the Rebaño set out to keep the ball and slow down the pace of the game, so as not to allow the opponent to attack. They went for it by attacking slowly and fell, as Guadalajara killed the match in a play that showed patience.

Key players

- Fernando Beltrán: He was undoubtedly Chivas' playmaker, as he took the ball and tried many progressive passes, which helped the red-and-white team get closer to the opponent's area. In addition, without the ball, he also contributed a lot, as he opened up passing lanes for all his teammates.

- Gilberto Chiquete: The left-sided defender once again gave a tremendous display of authority on Rayados' field, as he dominated all situations in the open field and was the guiding thread of the Rojiblancos' outings. Chiquete is becoming more and more established as the leader of the Guadalajara defense.

- Roberto Alvarado: The 'Piojo' was once again decisive with his dribbling and creativity to get into different areas of the field. He almost scored a great goal with his right foot and managed to assist Ricardo Marín's goal. As if that were not enough, he was in charge of provoking Rayados' second Red card.
