Omar Bravo and Carlos Salcido, Red and White Legends who will be inducted into the International Soccer Hall of Fame.

16/04/2024 13:52 / Roberto García

The greatness of Club Deportivo Guadalajara is based on its legends, whose quality and personality have contributed to building the Rebaño's winning legacy at a national and international level throughout its almost 118 years of existence. For this reason, it is common that in the conversation about the historic players of Mexican football, a player with a red and white past is always mentioned.

And what do you think, ChivaHermanos? Yesterday, the results of the voting for the 12th generation of the FIFA International Football Hall of Fame were announced, which of course will include the presence of the Rebaño Sagrado, as Omar Bravo and Carlos Salcido will be immortalized by the highest body of the world football for their outstanding careers as athletes and as people.

The careers of Bravo and Salcido can only be summed up in one word: triumphant. Both Red and White youth players wrote a dream story with many emotional passages with the Chiverío and the Mexican National Team, in addition to having a stint in European soccer.

Bravo engraved his name in Guadalajara's history with the 160 official goals he scored in his three seasons in all competitions, making him the top scorer in the history of our club. His more than 400 appearances with the Red and White jersey, most of them with his iconic 9 on his back, made him the idol of several generations that saw him win 1 Liga MX, 1 Copa MX, and 1 Supercopa MX with the team of his love. His goal celebrations include several in the most prestigious tournaments in the world, as he scored in Liga MX, Copa MX, Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, Spanish League, World Cup, Gold Cup, and Copa América.

Salcido also won the affection of the Rojiblanca Nation with his exemplary leadership and his love for the Chivas jersey. Solid in defense and midfield, the player from Ocotlán was part of those well-remembered Chivas of 2004, who captivated South America with their performances in the Libertadores Cup. In 2006 he went to Europe to raise the name of our country and returned home in 2014 to confirm his place as a Guadalajara idol by winning 1 Liga MX, 2 Copa MX, 1 Supercopa MX, and 1 Concacaf Champions League in the second stage with Chiverío.

Together with them, Ricardo Peláez will receive the investiture with this generation, who lived in 2 stages with Guadalajara: first as a player between 1998 and 2000, and later as a director from 2019 to 2022.
