After delivering a significant statement against their archrival from Jalisco with a resounding victory in the Clásico Tapatío on Matchday 15 of the 2025 Apertura, Chivas climbed to sixth place in the overall standings and is officially in a direct playoff spot for the first time in the tournament.
With two games still on the calendar against Pachuca and Monterrey, Guadalajara has the upper hand in securing the last ticket to the Fiesta Grande and is completely dependent on itself to achieve this.
This is how the fight for sixth place in the standings stands:
- Chivas with 23 points (+4)
- Pachuca with 22 points (+2)
- Tijuana with 21 points (+7)
- FC Juárez with 20 points (-1)
What does Chivas need to stay in the direct playoff zone?
- The equation is very simple: if the Rebaño wins its two games against Pachuca and Monterrey, it will secure sixth place with 29 points.
- If Chiverío loses or draws against the Tuzos, it will have to beat Rayados on the last matchday and hope that the Tuzos do not win on matchday 17. Additionally, it would need Xolos to lose or draw in one of its last two games.
- If the Rojiblancos earns 3 or fewer points in its two games, it will no longer be able to rely on itself to stay in sixth place.
