Chivas U21 defeats Rayados and advances to the AP25 playoffs

08/11/2025 13:37 / Club Deportivo Guadalajara

We had a very busy morning in Verde Valle, as Guadalajara's youth teams hosted their Monterrey counterparts for Matchday 17 of the 2025 Apertura. Both the Rebaño's Under-19 and Under-21 teams came into this match looking to secure their place in the playoffs, so the games were highly tense.

Chivas U21 achieved their goal, beating Rayados 3-2 and securing their ticket to the Final Phase of the tournament, while the Rebaño U19 suffered a heavy defeat that left them out of the competition. If you want to know everything that happened in these matches, we'll tell you all about it here.

U21

The Rebaño Sagrado struck first in the 17th minute thanks to Diego Latorre, who broke away at the near post and finished off a great low cross from Raúl Nuño. The Rojiblancos extended their lead in the 32nd minute, again thanks to Latorre, who scored a great goal from outside the area after leaving two opponents in his wake. However, the Rayados did not give up and managed to equalize with goals from Francisco Valenzuela in the 40th minute and Diego Chavira in the 72nd minute.

Just when it looked like the points would be shared, Sergio Álvarez appeared and, with a tremendous header in the final stretch of the match, made it 3-2 in favor of Guadalajara. After this result, Chivas U21 secured their ticket to the Quarterfinals of the 2025 Apertura by moving into eighth place with 26 points.
