Chivas tried every way possible, but drew with Xolos

25/04/2026 21:13 / Roberto García

Guadalajara brought the football, showed a hunger to win throughout the 90 minutes, and created the most dangerous chances in front of a vibrant Estadio AKRON. However, the scoreline did not reflect their effort, as they were held to a scoreless draw against Club Tijuana in the Clausura 2026 finale. With this result, Chivas finished the regular season in second place with 36 points.

The officiating added a high dose of controversy, as referee Katia Itzel García Mendoza initially awarded a clear penalty for handball. However, after VAR intervention, the decision was controversially overturned, denying the Rebaño a clear chance to secure all three points late in the match.

Chivas never stopped pushing for the win. Through Gabriel Milito’s substitutions and backed by the home crowd, the team shifted into higher gear, pinning Xolos deep in their own half. Still, the visitors’ defensive block cleared every ball they could.

Chivas already has its Liguilla opponent set: they will face Tigres UANL in the Quarterfinals, opening the series in Monterrey and closing it at home.
