May kicked off with plenty of action for the Rojiblanca Academy across all categories. Whether in the playoffs or the final stretch of the regular season, Guadalajara’s five professional youth teams faced Atlas, Toluca, and Monterrey, bringing plenty of highlights along the way. Here’s everything you need to know:
SUB 21
The Rebaño is in the Semifinals! Once again, the academy proved it’s the best in Mexico by eliminating their city rivals in the Quarterfinals with a 2-1 aggregate score after two high-intensity matches.
The first leg in Nextipac ended 1-1 after Gael García gave Guadalajara the lead in the 68th minute, but an own goal by Diego Rosales late in the match leveled the score at La Academia.
However, that draw was enough to give the rojiblancos the edge, and they came out strong in the return leg at Gigantera. Near the end, Sebastián Esparza sealed the series with a brilliant chipped finish, securing Chivas’ spot in the Liga MX Sub 21 Semifinals, where they will face FC Juárez.
SUB 19 (Women)
Guadalajara earned a huge result in Monterrey! In the race for the final playoff spot in Group 2, the team returned from El Barrial with three crucial points after defeating Rayadas 0-1 on Matchday 17.
Early in the second half, Cinthia Cabrera won a penalty, which Vanessa González converted in the 47th minute.
This victory placed Chivas Femenil Sub 19 in 4th place in their group with 25 points, with one match remaining and full control of their playoff destiny.
SUB 15
The Guadalajara side also triumphed at El Barrial, moving closer to the playoffs after a 0-1 win over Monterrey on Matchday 17.
Osvaldo Ybarra scored the decisive goal in the 17th minute. Chivas leads Group 2 with 31 points and will face either Pachuca or Necaxa in the Quarterfinals.
SUB 19 (Men)
The rojiblancos experienced a tough Quarterfinal series, falling 3-2 on aggregate to Toluca in Metepec.
The series began in Gigantera, where Chivas delivered a strong performance, winning 2-0 at home with goals from Ángel Brambila (11’) and Rigo Pinto (30’).
However, despite holding the advantage, Toluca won 3-0 at home, ending Guadalajara’s participation in the CL26.
SUB 17
The young Rebaño also visited Monterrey but fell 4-2 at El Barrial on Matchday 17.
Aarón Correa and Edgar Vargas scored for Chivas. Despite the loss, the team remains the overall and Group 2 leader with 38 points, with one match left to play. They now await the end of the regular season to learn their Quarterfinal opponent, which could be América, Pachuca, or Puebla.
