Rojiblanco Influence in Mexico's Historic Victory Over Czechia!

24/06/2026 21:02 / Roberto García

We have just witnessed history in the making, Chivahermanos! And, as always, Chivas had to be part of it. Tonight at the Estadio Ciudad de México, Mexico defeated Czechia 3-0 to complete a perfect group stage in the FIFA World Cup 2026, finishing with nine points and now awaiting its opponent in the Round of 32.

The Rojiblanco presence was impossible to miss. To begin with, 'Tala' Rangel, Luis Romo, Roberto Alvarado, and former Chivas academy product Mateo Chávez all started in Javier Aguirre's lineup. Mexico's goalkeeper delivered another outstanding performance, showcasing the confidence and consistency he has displayed throughout the World Cup.

Romo played a direct role in the result. In the 55th minute, he held up the ball near midfield as Mexico launched a counterattack, battled past three Czech defenders, and then provided the assist for Chávez's opening goal.

It was Mateo himself who sprinted forward to support Romo's breakaway run, timed his movement perfectly to evade a defender, and calmly slotted a left-footed finish across the goalkeeper to put Mexico on its way to victory.

Meanwhile, the 'Piojo' was a constant threat down the right flank, creating opportunities with his vision and creativity while also contributing to the play that led to Mexico's third goal of the evening through a shot on target.

Mexico has made history and will now look to capitalize on its home-field advantage as the knockout stage begins. El Tri is currently awaiting its opponent in the first elimination round of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with the rival set to emerge from among the tournament's best third-place finishers.
