Verde Valle was filled with smiles, excitement and plenty of joy! As part of the activities between Chivas and Fundación Jorge Vergara, Guadalajara welcomed 30 girls and boys from Poncitlán, Jalisco, specifically from the communities of Mezcala and San Pedro Itzicán, who enjoyed a very special morning alongside the Rebaño.
The visit was part of the Pásala program, an initiative that uses sports as a tool to promote peacebuilding, self-care and community engagement by providing spaces that help transform their surroundings and strengthen their bonds.
A morning to experience Chivas up close
From the moment they arrived at Verde Valle, the excitement was evident. The children took their seats in the stands to watch Guadalajara’s training session and followed every detail of what was happening on the field. Every shot, play and goal sparked a reaction from the stands. Their eyes followed the ball from one side to the other, while smiles appeared whenever the players came closer to their section.
The wait also included plenty of fun. Games like rock, paper, scissors made the time more enjoyable and gave the visitors an opportunity to spend time together. Throughout the morning, several of them shared what being Chivahermanos means to them. Some inherited their love for Guadalajara from their families, while others found in the Rebaño a historically successful team with which they feel a strong connection.
The moment they met their idols
After training came one of the most anticipated moments: meeting Guadalajara’s players. Santiago Sandoval and Miguel Gómez were among the first to come over, and they were soon joined by Efraín Álvarez, Luis Romo, Brian Gutiérrez, Kevin Castañeda, Ricardo Marín, Samir Inda, Raúl Rangel and other Rojiblancos. There were photos, autographs, hugs and plenty of smiles.
Among all those stories, José’s stood out. He arrived at Verde Valle with one very clear wish: to meet Raúl Rangel. The young fan said the Rojiblanco goalkeeper is his favorite player. He also plays goalkeeper and dreams of following in his footsteps one day. The wait was worth it. When Raúl came over, José was able to hug his idol, get his jersey signed and share a few moments with him. The excitement on his face showed just how special the encounter was.
But the surprise did not end there. The Rojiblanco goalkeeper had prepared several pairs of signed cleats to give to the children and took the opportunity to share advice with those who, like José, also dream of becoming soccer players.
An experience they will always remember
What began as a visit to Verde Valle turned into a morning they will hardly forget. For the girls and boys in the Pásala program, being at Guadalajara’s home meant much more than watching a training session: it was an opportunity to get closer to their idols, spend time with them and feel part of the Rojiblanco family.
Through Fundación Jorge Vergara, Chivas continues to use sports as a vehicle to connect with younger generations, promote values and create experiences that can leave a lasting impact. This time, Verde Valle was the setting where several Rojiblanco dreams came true.
