There are venues that, over the years, become part of a team's identity. For Chivas, Jalisco Stadium is one of them. The historic venue on Calzada Independencia has witnessed countless chapters in Guadalajara's history and, particularly in the Clásico Tapatío, El Rebaño tend to find favorable results whenever they play there.
The recent history of clashes between Chivas and their city neighbors at this venue shows a clear Rojiblanco trend, as El Rebaño have consistently picked up points when they are technically the visiting team against the Rojinegros. And we emphasize "technically" because, as we all know, Chivas are always the home side in the stands.
In fact, in the 10 most recent Clásicos Tapatíos played at Jalisco Stadium, Guadalajara have recorded five wins, four draws and just one defeat. In other words, Chivas have collected points in nine of those 10 matches. As a side note, that lone defeat did not prove particularly useful for Los Zorros, who won the first leg of the Quarterfinals in the Clausura 2023, only to be eliminated from that Liguilla series after falling at AKRON Stadium in the second leg.
One particularly revealing statistic from this run is that whenever Chivas have scored, they have never lost. In addition, they have kept a clean sheet against Los Zorros on three occasions.
That history will be put to the test again this Saturday. Gabriel Milito's team will return to the Coloso de la Calzada for their Matchday 11 fixture in the Apertura 2026, doing so with a very recent precedent that will further fuel Rojiblanco confidence: the last time Guadalajara faced the Nextipac-based side at this venue, they came away with a 2-1 victory.
It was during the Clausura 2026 that El Rebaño once again showed their ability to respond in one of the most important matches on the calendar. The Rojinegros took the lead in the first half, but the Rojiblanco side responded after the break and completed the comeback through goals from Armando González and Ángel Sepúlveda, who, as it happens, is coming off a brace last weekend in the Oakland Clásico.
Everything is now set for an authentic Rojiblanco carnival at Jalisco Stadium this Saturday, where the Chivahermanos will play their part as well, backing the most Mexican team in its pursuit of another victory over its fiercest city rival and another three points in the national championship as they continue to battle near the top of the standings.
