Courage, quality football, and an unwavering commitment to an attacking style of play are the pillars that have shaped the current success of Gabriel Milito’s Chivas. At the end of Matchday 15 of the Apertura 2026, Guadalajara sit atop the Liga MX standings with 29 points, level with América and Cruz Azul, and are once again emerging as one of the strongest contenders heading into the playoffs.
This success has been accompanied by the impressive performances the team consistently delivers every weekend, regardless of the venue, as they demonstrated once again by thrashing Atlante last Saturday at Estadio AKRON. It was precisely that victory over Los Potros de Hierro that brought another milestone for the Rojiblancos: they surpassed the 100-goal mark under Gabriel Milito.
The Argentine coach has transformed a highly talented squad, making the most of each player’s individual strengths and putting them at the service of a collective style of play that has taken Mexico’s top flight by storm. The results speak for themselves: 31 wins, 14 draws, and 16 defeats in 61 matches across all competitions, complemented by 102 goals scored and just 73 conceded.
So far, we have celebrated 87 goals in the regular season, 8 in the playoffs, and 7 across the two editions of the Leagues Cup in which the Argentine has been in charge. However, the impressive numbers do not end there, because if there is one thing this team knows how to do, it is constantly threaten the opposition’s goal.
On 7 occasions, Milito’s Chivas have scored 3 goals in a match; in another 4 games, they have found the net 4 times; while on 3 occasions, they have put 5 past their opponents. That is how El Rebaño Sagrado recorded its biggest victories under the former defender: 5-0 wins over Puebla and León on Matchdays 9 and 15 of CL26, respectively.
Of course, if there are teams that have suffered from Chiverío’s attacking efficiency, it is their fiercest rivals. The Argentine coach remains unbeaten in every clásico he has managed, with a record of 4 wins and 2 draws, highlighted by memorable moments such as the 2-1 victory in El Clásico de México during AP25 and the 4-1 triumph in the Clásico Tapatío that same semester.
And if anyone thought that was the end of the story, it is worth remembering that this same style of play helped Armando González become the AP25 top scorer and come very close to repeating that achievement in CL26, thanks to the 24 goals that ‘Hormiga’ scored during that football season.
Milito’s Chivas continue to grow stronger as the most important stage of the tournament approaches, not only in terms of their performances but also in their effectiveness in front of goal. Add to that the tireless support of Nación Rojiblanca wherever the team plays, and Guadalajara are once again establishing themselves as one of the leading contenders for the Liga MX title.
