Just today, the beginning of Mexico's patriotic month and in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States, representatives from the city of Atlanta, Georgia Tech University, PRIMETIME SPORTS and the Clubs Chivas and America met in Atlanta to formally announce that everything is ready for El Super Clasico to take place next Sunday, September 25 at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
The Consul General of Mexico in Atlanta, Javier Díaz de León, emphasized that Atlanta is a cosmopolitan, inclusive city, where everyone is welcome, where 300-400 thousand Mexicans live in the metropolitan area and where they always want to demonstrate that sports events of any kind held in Atlanta are very well organized. Ricardo Peláez, El Rebaño Sagrado's Sports Director, stressed the importance of this match taking place in the United States:
"I would go a little further, not only in inviting Mexicans living here, MLS has generated a very important soccer boom in families and children, Chivas and America have many fans here, who are not necessarily Mexican, there is a very important common ground between Liga MX and MLS, so we want to invite everyone to fill the stadium and make it a party, (invite them) to enjoy this Clasico, the most important match of the Liga MX".
"Chivas and América have a date with history, rest assured that we that the best we have to offer will be playing in this Super Clasico; it so happens that we will be playing our Clasico a week earlier in league play, so it could even represent a rematch when we come here. Atlanta is an extraordinary city, with great infrastructure and a beautiful stadium where this Super Clasico will be played".
