Mexico City.- With character, good soccer, and solid defense, Guadalajara showed its capabilities at an important moment, proving its mettle in El Clásico de México and beating América 1-2 in a match corresponding to Matchday 8 of the 2025 Apertura.
After this tremendous show of authority, the Rebaño must maintain its positive momentum and prove that this result is not a fluke, but a consequence of the great work it has done under Gabriel Milito.
The start of the match was as expected, with both teams neutralizing each other due to the number of players they had in the middle of the field. In addition, Guadalajara remained solid when called upon in defense, positioning themselves well in the final third to minimize América's advances.
Chivas came out aggressively in the second half to win the game, pushing forward and changing their approach up front. Gabriel Milito's men quickly made their presence felt up front, stringing together passes that allowed them to settle in the final third of the field.
It was in the 63rd minute that the Rebaño reflected their dominance on the scoreboard, as after a tremendous assist from 'Guti', Roberto Alvarado sent the ball into the net to tip the balance of the game in favor of the red and white side. After the goal, Chivas looked comfortable on the field and knew how to defend with the ball, something that Gabriel Milito has sought since his first day in Guadalajara.
In the final stretch of the match, the Argentine coach's substitutions paid off, as Armando González made his presence felt within minutes of coming on and sealed the victory with a stunning goal from the edge of the box.
The goals
0-1: The opener came in the 63rd minute from Roberto Alvarado, after a great play by Guadalajara on the left, which was crowned with an extraordinary cross from Erick Gutiérrez, allowing 'El Piojo' to close the gap and put the Rebaño Sagrado ahead.
