The best-playing team in Liga MX is once again the foundation of El Tri, Chivahermanos! The great form of Club Deportivo Guadalajara is not only reflected in the Clausura 2026, but also in the latest national team call-up for the March FIFA window, with five Rojiblancos included in Javier Aguirre’s squad.
As has been the case in every national team roster this year, Chivas once again forms the core of the squad, with Raúl Rangel, Richard Ledezma, Brian Gutiérrez, Roberto Alvarado, and Armando González called up for the matches against Portugal and Belgium, as preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Rangel has established himself as the best Mexican goalkeeper at the moment, maintaining his place in the World Cup process without interruption and serving as the guardian of Chivas’ goal under Milito, with five clean sheets in the CL26.
“Richy” arrived and quickly confirmed himself as one of the best wing-backs in Liga MX, combining exceptional game reading with undeniable quality on the ball, which has led him to be involved in five goals this season.
Meanwhile, Brian has shown why Gabriel Milito considers him a key piece in midfield: he’s coming off a stunning goal against León and consistently brings verticality to Chivas’ build-up play.
As for “Piojo,” there’s little more to add—he has long been one of the Mexican attackers who best understands offensive creation, with a refined left foot and dribbling ability possessed by very few.
Finally, “La Hormiga” is on fire up front: he has scored 21 goals in the football year, was the top scorer in AP25, and remains in contention to repeat that achievement, all while continuing to improve his understanding of the position with each match.
Mexico will host the Portuguese squad on Saturday, March 28, marking the reopening of the Estadio Azteca ahead of the World Cup, with kickoff at 7 PM. They will then face Belgium at the same time, with Soldier Field in Chicago as the venue.
