Happy birthday to a world champion and a true Chiva at heart!

Talking about Omar Esparza is remembering a player who understood from a young age what it meant to defend the rojiblanco colors. Born on May 21, 1988 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Esparza built a career defined by sacrifice, commitment and the pride of representing the Rebaño Sagrado.

Developed through Chivas’ youth academy, Omar Alejandro Esparza Morales was part of the Mexican generation that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru in 2005. There, the Guadalajara academy product shined as an important piece of the squad coached by Jesús Ramírez and even scored one of the goals in the Final against Brazil, a match that ended 3-0 in favor of the Selección Mexicana.

That performance was enough of a boost for Esparza to make his debut with Guadalajara’s first team just 13 days later, at only 17 years old, on October 15, 2005 against Monterrey, beginning a journey filled with football and love for the rojiblanca jersey.

One of the most special moments of his career with Chivas came during the Apertura 2006, when he was part of the team that lifted the Liga MX title, adding another achievement to his professional journey.

Today, on his birthday, we remember a player developed in the Rojiblanca Academy who proudly defended the jersey of Club Deportivo Guadalajara and who belongs to an unforgettable generation for all of Nación Rojiblanca.
