With just a few days to go before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Mexico has finalized its squad for the biggest tournament in world football. Among Javier Aguirre’s selections are five Chivas players, who earned their spots on El Tri’s final roster through their outstanding performances.
Raúl “Tala” Rangel, Luis Romo, Roberto “Piojo” Alvarado, Brian Gutiérrez and Armando “Hormiga” González will have the opportunity to represent Mexico in the tournament, which will be hosted by Mexico, the United States and Canada. In addition, one of the competition’s main venues will be the Rojiblanca Fortress.
The Mexican National Team will play its final warm-up match against Serbia on Thursday, June 4, in Toluca. El Tri will then kick off its World Cup campaign on June 11 against South Africa at Estadio Ciudad de México, in the opening match of the tournament.
