The Rojiblanca Nation in Tamaulipas welcomed Chivas with open arms on Friday as Guadalajara played its first preseason match ahead of the Liga MX Apertura 2026 and the Leagues Cup, taking on Correcaminos at Estadio Marte R. Gómez. Debuting the club's new kit and playing two matches at the Tamaulipas venue, the Sacred Flock offered another glimpse of the exciting brand of football that won over fans throughout the previous season.
The first match kicked off at 6:00 PM and consisted of two 25-minute halves, ending in a 1-1 draw. Sergio Aguayo opened the scoring for Chivas in the 6th minute after a brilliant through ball from Santiago Sandoval found Miguel Gómez, whose low cross into the box allowed the forward to simply tap the ball into the back of the net.
Correcaminos equalized in the 30th minute, giving Gabriel Milito the opportunity to rotate his squad and hand valuable minutes to several players ahead of the evening's main match.
At 8:00 PM, the second game of the day got underway, this time in the traditional 90-minute format with two 45-minute halves. It also marked the first appearances in Chivas colors for the club's newest signings, Kevin Castañeda and Jordan Carrillo.
The atmosphere in the stands quickly came alive, fueled by Guadalajara's attacking approach. Chivas created several dangerous chances but was unable to capitalize. Kevin Castañeda even found the back of the net, only to see his goal ruled out for offside. After 90 minutes, the match finished in a scoreless draw.
Guadalajara will now return to the Pearl of the West to complete the final stage of its preseason preparations. The team's final tune-up before the new campaign will take place on Friday, July 10, when Chivas faces Leones Negros at 8:00 PM at Gregorio "Tepa" Gómez Stadium in Tepatitlán.
