Chivas Femenil got their place in the Guard1anes 2021 Semifinal

10/05/2021 20:00 / Omar González

During the first minutes of the first half, there were few chances and a lot of inaccuracy from both teams, as usual, in these kill-or-be-killed games. Nonetheless, as time went by, Chivas took over the ball, the game, and the result.

The first chance for Chivas Femenil arrived in minute 29 as Carolina Jaramillo fired a long-range left-footed shot that went straight into Lozano’s body. Three minutes later, Joseline Montoya unleashed a shot from outside the box, but Lozano saved without problems.

As expected, it all changed during the second half, with a more aggressive Toluca that caused further spaces and options for Guadalajara.

In minute 50, Jaqueline Rodríguez crossed a precise ball into ‘Licha’ Cervantes who proceeded to head the ball solidly into the back of the net.

By the 64-minute mark, Joseline Montoya was close to doubling Chivas Femenil’s lead but her header missed the target. Five minutes later, ‘Caro’ Jaramillo fired a real rocket shot and Lozano saved Toluca’s goal again.

In the 78th minute, ‘Licha’ almost got her brace but Lozano saved, then a minute later, Joseline Montoya attempted a real top-class play, unfortunately, Lozano denied her.

By the end of the game, in just a 5-minute stretch, El Rebaño Sagrado put the game to rest via Alicia Cervantes and Gaby Valenzuela as each one cashed with top-class headers to clinch Chivas Femenil’s spot in Semifinals.
