Why is March 14th so special for Chivas?

On a day like today, but in 1964, the Clásico de México experienced one of the most epic moments in its history. And the fact is that this anecdote was started by a Guadalajaran legend. Yes, we are talking about none other than Don Guillermo 'Tigre' Sepúlveda (r.i.p.).

The Grand Final of the 1964 Champion of Champions Cup was being played between the League Champion for the sixth time, Guadalajara, and the Champion of the Mexican Cup, America. That match was played at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario and was won by the Rebaño Sagrado by 0-2.

That same afternoon, 'Tigre' Sepúlveda was sent off for an altercation with Alfonso Portugal and before leaving the field, he was responsible for leaving one of the most memorable postcards in the anecdotes of the Classic of Mexico.

What did 'Tigre' do?

Before going to the dressing room, he passed in front of the América bench and took off his shirt, then threw it in front of the Cremas eyes and told them "with this one you have...", which heated up the atmosphere between the two teams.

That iconic expression by the 'Tigre' raised the antagonism of the Clásico de México to the maximum, as it was a magnificent reference to the extensive dominance that the 'tapatíos' had established over the capital team during the 'Campeonísimo' era.
